For my midyear resolution (what? You didn't know about mid-year resolutions? Well, hop on the bus, it's a very happening new trend. So happening, it just... happened.) I resolve to be content. No more seeing that glass half empty, being a Negative Nancy, Debbie Downer, or Big-Poopy-Head Bethany. I'm going to find the happy in situations that would normally bring out my complaining, whiny side!
For example, yesterday's me would have been quite annoyed that Lorelei has learned how to open doors, implementing her new technique at naptime instead of actually napping. I would have complained to the world at large. World! Hear ME! I am annoyed! My problems outweigh disease, hunger, and cable re-runs! Blaaaarrggh! Not today's Bethany, no no. Today, I'm looking at the bigger picture. She decides to open her door constantly for 30 minutes instead of actually napping makes her overall naptime/banishment to her bedroom 30 minutes longer. Yay!
Or how Aly has been un-potty training herself lately, deciding her bathroom floor is a better medium for this particular form of self-expression. I could complain, but no! There is a brighter side, a silver lining! Um. It's.. that...uh...
Ok, I need help on that one. Blaargh.
