I'm in love. Her name is iPhone (didn't you know phones are feminine?), and except when Matt appropriates her, she's not far from my side.
Yesterday I bought some milk and was completely bowled over by the expiration date...August 6th? It's already almost August? Which, of course, led to my realization that I have little over a month before Lorelei's birthday, 3 months until Mandy's wedding, just six months until Christmas and the new year. What have I accomplished this year?
I don't want another year to pass me by with the only points showing me it has gone by being my daughters' development and expiration dates on milk.
Speaking of ze little monsters, I got some batteries (thanks Wes & Carole!) so took some pictures of them today. Aly's getting counting to 12 down, and Lorelei is going to walk any day, seriously.
Just 'cause she's cute.
Ah the ever-changing emotions of toddlerhood.
See! I wasn't lying about how close she is.
Happy baby :).
One of her signature expressions. Not sure what it means, and her 'na-na-na-na's don't tell me much.
Another one of her favorite faces. This is her 'I'm so ugly, I'm cute!/All your Cheez-It are belong to us' command.
Lorelei licking the preservative fake cheesy residue off her hands.
Still no batteries :(. So, no pictures lately. I need to just get off my booty and take pictures with the normal flash, but compared to the big flash it just doesn't seem right.
The tenth I was able to go do something I haven't done since, well, really before I was pregnant with Aly... go visit someone all by myself. Though the trip to Mandy's was a bit tedious with only me in the car to keep me awake, I loved it. Don't get me wrong, I love my kids, love Matt, but it's so nice to just have my thoughts to myself for a while, go do things while only worrying about myself, heck, just getting me ready. Mandy, her soon to be sister in law Shannon, and I went searching for bridesmaid dresses, and then Mandy and I went to see Wicked. It was wonderful! I absolutely love musicals and plays, and this one was great. We had the best seats I've ever been in for a play, the actors and actresses did a great job, and I simply loved the costumes. The story was.... a bit different than the book, completely filled with deux ex machinas (and you thought there could be only one), but it didn't bother me. I'm sure you've all heard me complain about True Blood, so it really surprises me that a musical depicting one of my favorite books didn't annoy me with its changes. You simply have to go see it.
My cell phone has almost completely bit the dust, and it's finally time for me to upgrade... so the iphone is on its way! Woo! I'd been wanting an ipod, needed a new phone... vamoosh! It's on its way here right now... curse you UPS man for not delivering it already.
Lorelei has 5 teeth now, stands up by herself, and lately will walk with if she has a hold on one hand. Matt just found out a route is coming open, so unless someone higher bids on it, he hopefully will be getting a much better change of pace. Aly is.. Aly. She's becoming a little easier to handle, while at the same time her antics are a bit more destructive. Last week, the day after I came home from Memphis, she decided to decorate the floor, hearth, tv stand, and modem with chocolate milk. This was caught soon enough that the chocolate milk only cut out the phone line. Of course the next day she decorated it with water, which cut out the internet too. Not. fun.
For those of you who prayed and thought about my grandfather, a little update. So far I still haven't been to see him, since I didn't want to give him the cold/ear infection/whatever I had and timing hasn't been right, so this is secondhand. The description the doctor gave us for the rest of whatever Grandaddy's life was pretty bleak. Thus far Grandaddy has been doing much better than anyone had expected. It seems like he's adjusting to nursing home life and has had up and down days in the pain area. They told my family that if he fell it would paralyze or kill him, and he fell a little bit a few weeks ago, and he's still alive and kicking (sort of).
Life has been going. I had meant to take pictures of what little I had accomplished during the baby-free week (or as I like to call it, return to sanity), but neither of my projects got completely finished. I want to make sure they're as perfect as I can get them before I post my achievement. I will give a synopsis: the outside closet was cleaned, slightly painted, and organized. Aly's room was painted, organized (ha), and now I think fits her personality much better. Most of you probably won't like the color I chose for her, but her exclamations of 'Mommy! It's PRETTY!' override your opinion, so there. ;)
Matt has been doing the same, with only the ebbing of work hours to show any sort of change, poor guy. Aly is... well.. remember when she made those devil-baby noises? Yeah. They weren't imitation. She reminds me of those Sour Patch Kids commercials. Perfectly.
Lorelei is her shadow. She'd lemming herself if Aly went first, I think. It's incredible to see them growing closer each day, and I hope they're able to stay this way. Aly is becoming even more of an entertainer. She has taken to singing nearly every day, putting on shows with a vaccum cleaner cord as her most recent microphone. She'll thrust her hands behind her high in the air, showing how much her song of nonsensical words is affecting her. She'll dance, growing softer in sound, then stop with a big crescendo. Deciding when to exploit her is my next big decision.
Lorelei is growing up way too fast. :( She's still cuddly and sweet, but when she isn't crawling 90 miles a minute after her sister she's exploring, pulling up and letting go, to wobble on her feet for a few seconds before she actively sits herself down. She's become very squeaky, maybe to go with Aly's songs, and sometimes they just squeak at each other, seriously. She's got 3 teeth now with another on the way, learning to feed herself with a bottle and cup, and chattering all the while. I can't believe that in just two short months she'll be one. Let's all heave one big sigh.
Speaking of, 25 is coming up. I am incredibly frustrated that at 25 I'm not where I should be with myself, in so many different ways. So, in the next few days I'll be actively trying to change a few things, so all prayers for God to give me strength would be greatly appreciated. I'll comment more on what I'm doing when I'm more certain of it. Let the speculation begin.
P.S. Send Batteries. I can't take pictures of my hellacious childrens without them to power the flash, which Matt keeps raiding for his own nefarious purposes.
