Why Do I Even Try? part deux

This time it's with my daughters' pediatrician's nurse.

(Three hours after initial phone call to pediatric clinic)
Bethany: Hello?
Nurse: I'm calling for Ste..Bethany Warren.
Bethany: This is she.
Silence on other end.
Bethany: Okay. Well, I called because my husband works in an area that has been hit hard by swine flu, and he's started to feel the symptoms himself. Since my daughters are both under three, I was wondering if there was a medicine they and I need to take to help prevent, you know, them getting it (one of my finer linguistic moments).
Nurse (deadpan voice): There is no medicine for that.
Bethany stares ahead, in shock, after reading about the increased risk for children under four, and the preventitive properties of Tamiflu and Relenza, at the completely unhelpful answer to her question.
A few seconds later...
Bethany: Okay, well yeah. I guess that's all I wanted to know.
Nurse hangs up the phone.

  1. You have to draw them pictures and exaggerate the symptoms. That's my theory anyway. Call them and ask if the flu shot for n1h1 is ready. Hopefully they have heard of that! If Matt gets sick, I would quarantine him out in that little room off the garage!!
